The third day of Trade Winds 2018 proceeded towards its conclusion with the National Operations Summit, hosted by OpSigma – The Supply Chain, Operations & General Management club, IIFT.
The revered panel for the day consisted of Mr. Anand Maithani, Head – SCM & IT, Apollo Tyres, Mr. Pradeep Mishra, VP – Purchasing, Eicher Trucks and Buses and Mr. Rajeev Singh, COO – Global Business Services, Karvy Computershare. The theme of the summit was, “Automation, Robots, and A.I: The rise of digital supply chains.”
Mr. Rajeev Singh spoke about how we humans have been automating work since the wheel was invented. We are constantly trying to pitch ourselves against machines and it isn’t a new phenomenon. Mr. Anand Maithani shared his views about digital supply chains and how the important aspect is to use technology to analyze the zettabytes of data that is being generated. Mr. Pradeep Mishra, delved into his personal experiences to highlight the increasing role of technological transformations in shipments and supply chain management over time. Technology can be viewed as an employment enhancer as opposed to an employment reducer. We’d like to thank the speakers for this interactive and informative session.
The Summit concluded with the unveiling of Opulence, the magazine compiled by OpSigma – The Supply Chain, Operations & General Management Club, IIFT. The magazine encompasses articles based on submissions from India’s finest B-schools and insights from industry leaders around the latest happenings in supply chain management.
